The New York-based boutique genre film label ANERKE began its operations in 2019 as a theatrical distributor, releasing the successful ultra-low-budget film 2050, which premiered in Los Angeles and surpassed several large Hollywood releases on one single screen, which led to an extended run at the AMC in Monterey Park, Ca. Via AMC Theaters, the film continued to make its theatrical run that included several other cities including Baltimore, Nashville and New York. After a branding change, the company began to focus on the production of low-budget genre films. Run by producers Princeton Holt, David Vaughn, and Liz Sanchez, the company's first production was I HEART WILLIE (link to site), which was 100% shot on location in Michoacan, Mexico in 10 days. The film went on to premiere at the Morbido Film Fest in Mexico City and win multiple awards thereafter.
I Heart Willie will premiere in theaters all over North America for one-night-only on February 26th, 2025.
